AFSMI CEO Night 2007, Economic Outlook
- with Richard Gibbs, Macquarie Bank

(Register Now)

Maarten Tentij, TeamFrame Managing Director and President of AFSMI will cover the year that has been and provide an overview of what in planned for 2008.

********

Every year, the Association For Service Management International (AFSMI) hosts a special night for over 125 CEO's and Senior Executives from all walks of Australian industry. This is an opportunity to not only hear from a quality presenter, but also to catch up with other leading executives from the Technical Service Industry.

Along with manufacturing, the Technical Services industry is under constant threat from the lower cost Asian economies, from mass outsourcing of services through to recent predictions that "by 2010 modular hardware design will reduce the requirement of trained feet on the street by 90 percent". But, how strong is the counter pull of environmental sustainability and how well will it favour Australia?

Richard Gibbs, Division Director and Head of Economics at Macquarie Bank, will explore this phenomena and look at some of the key questions of:-

  • What is the impact on global industry by the rapid industrialisation and urbanisation of China and India?
  • Will energy and environmental sustainability objectives increasingly determine the pattern of industrial activity?
  • How strong is Australia' s comparative global trade advantage?
