May 2009
CeBIT 2009 was our best year ever
Our "Guess the number of olives in the jar" competition delivered a wide range of guestimates, and loads of laughs.
Clearly, easy project consolidation to achieve a clearer view of progress and problems, and better management reporting was of keen interest.
With current economic pressures, shaving 20% off the project delivery costs, improving quality, delivering faster, and catching small problems before the become large ones were the hot topics of discussion.
There was a range of industries facing similar challenges, from government agencies, to multimedia companies, ICT service providers, software development companies, property management specialists, and legal teams.
If you attended I hope you enjoyed the exhibition - we certainly did (sore feet aside).

TeamFrame Time Based-Jeopardy Management book is published by Verlag
The book provides an overview of how a Jeopardy Management System was implemented in Crux Cybernetics' flagship product TeamFrame Easy PMO. It is a time based notification system much like the reminders from MS Outlook or the Palm pilot diary. The first two chapters provide an overview of TeamFrame. They demonstrate the technology currently used as well as show the already implemented event driven rule system. Chapter three analyses different existing third party applications. It provides an overview how problems are handled. Chapter four demonstrates alternative notification types. It shows what they are and how they work as well as summarizes the features and provides an overview how they could be used in the Jeopardy Management System. Chapter five provides an overview of the identified rules as well as explains how projects, tasks and jobs are stored in TeamFrame in order to execute rules. Chapter six shows and describes the developed user interface. Chapter seven, eight and nine concern about the implementation, optimization and the deployment of the Jeopardy Management System. The last two chapters illustrate the developed test framework as well as discuss further work.

P3O - Project, Programme and Portfolio Office guidelines - www.p3o-officialsite.com
Office of Government Commerce (OGC) release P3O - Project, Programme and Portfolio office. The new P3O guidance - aligned to OGC's PRINCE2, MSP, and M_o_R - brings together in one place a set of principles, processes and techniques to facilitate effective portfolio, programme and project management through enablement, challenge and support structures.
TeamFrame's Easy PMO is designed to support these guidelines and simplifies the task of building a hierarchy of portfolio, program and project offices.
August 2008
TeamFrame Easy PMO
Our latest release targets enhanced support for an easy to run Project Management Office (PMO).
The focus is on easy consolidation of many projects into a central repository; issue and risk management by the PMO; and simple communication through custom dashboards and standard reports.
Click on the image to view the actual size...
A key change for this release is an unbundling of modules. This, for example, makes it easier for project managers to continue working in a familiar Microsoft Project environment, while empowering the PMO to better support project management capability and reporting.
Easy PMO background
Over the past 6 months we have conducted extensive market research into how we can better support project-based organisations. There is a strong interest across a wide range of companies in building a Project Management Office (PMO) and in using a portfolio and scorecard approach for Portfolio Project Management (PPM).
In the PMO, a key need is the ability to review and manage a pool of resources to assist with resource conflict resolution and skill demand forecasting. Also important to the PMO's immediate needs is the ability to communicate project status to a variety of stakeholders in a variety of ways. The third cab off the rank is standard processes and mentoring.
From a portfolio perspective, companies frequently need to funnel a stream of new projects into a finite capacity workplace. In this situation, strategic alignment scorecards - coupled with risk and benefit rankings - help to prioritise projects.
Of the companies we spoke with the majority used MS Project or spreadsheets to track project progress. Most were looking for a way to implement PMO and PPM functions quickly. However, many of the PMO/PPM options on the market are fairly complex and expensive, and they assume that a mature project management environment is already in place.
Using our research feedback we revisited TeamFrame to see how we could best meet your needs in a straightforward way - the result is TeamFrame V4 - Easy PMO.

Big Bank embraces TeamFrame
A big 4 bank selects TeamFrame to assist with consolidation of distributed projects into a central repository for improved program and portfolio management. By using TeamFrame to upload stand-alone MS Project plans and spreadsheets into an online database, ad-hoc and manual spreadsheet analysis and reporting tools are now replaced by standardized environment. This has resulted in a better, faster and more cost effective way to track project progress, resource assignment, risk, issues and benefits.

of what in planned for 2008.
********
Every year, the Association For Service Management

and Senior Executives from all walks of Australian industry.
This is an opportunity to not only hear from a quality
presenter, but also to catch up with other leading executives
from the Technical Service Industry.
Along with manufacturing, the Technical Services industry is
under constant threat from the lower cost Asian economies, from
mass outsourcing of services through to recent predictions that
"by 2010 modular hardware design will reduce the
requirement of trained feet on the street by 90 percent".
But, how strong is the counter pull of environmental
sustainability and how well will it favour Australia?
Richard Gibbs, Division Director and Head of Economics at
Macquarie Bank, will explore this phenomena and look at some of
the key questions of:-
-
What is the impact on global industry by the rapid
industrialisation and urbanisation of China and India?
-
Will energy and environmental sustainability objectives
increasingly determine the pattern of industrial activity?
-
How strong is Australia' s comparative global trade advantage?
